Leisure
Leisure is good. More leisure is better. In fact, more
leisure and less work would vastly improve the collective quality
of life in our work-centric society. Embrace its awesome power:
in the wrong hands, leisure can be a dangerous weapon used to
sedate the masses. In the right hands, leisure has been responsible
for many of the glories of civilization. That, and it's also
a heck of a lot of fun!
Leisure Team Productions
Leisure Team Productions (LTP) was a media production company
that was born from the need - no, the duty - to promote
leisure in a positive light through a variety of media.
LTP came to life in 2002, founded by two unemployed
former classmates over several rounds of cask-conditioned
ales at the Black Horse London Pub in San Francisco (coincidentally,
the site of their original corporate headquarters). Tired
of misguided perceptions of unemployment and the national
obsession with work, Leisure Team decided to join hands with
other organizations and individuals who have found more balance
in life, and to feature them in a deservedly flattering light. As a company Leisure Team wound operations down in 2007, but the authors continue to expound the virtues of leisure in their everyday lives.

The Upside to Downtime or Time Off! The Leisure Guide to San Francisco.
The founders of leisure itself? Well, not quite. Dean
LaTourrette and Kristine Enea were both born in the Bay Area
and have lived in San Francisco for the past 20 years. Both
worked in the technology industry during the dot com bubble and
bust. They were successfully "unemployed" on and off from 2001 through 2007
pursuing entrepreneurial and creative interests and attempting
to perfect the leisure lifestyle. They created Leisure Team Productions
and began co-authoring the Time Off! book series during this time.
Dean LaTourrette
Dean has worked in marketing on and off for the past 20 years - "on"
during periods of full-time employment with a variety of companies, and "off" during extended
hiatuses to travel, surf and write. He has written for several publications, including Men's Journal, San Francisco Examiner,
The Surfer's Journal, and The Surfer's Path. Dean swears that the idea for the Time Off! books came to him while he was
sneaking a nap at work, which only reinforced his desire to quit his job and begin writing them. In addition to creating and co-authoring the Time Off! series, Dean managed the publishing efforts of Leisure Team Productions. After Leisure Team, Dean went on to run environmental nonprofit Save The Waves Coalition for five years, and now works as a marketing and business development consultant. He can be contacted directly at dean(at)leisureteam(dot)com.
Kristine Enea
Kristine used to negotiate deals for a large software
company but she saw the light and decided to take off and travel. Her subsequent trek to
Panama City, Panama, and back-by car-led to the expansion of her family in the amount
of one dog and several cats. She is a film-fest junkie who has been known to deplete her bank
account to make it to Telluride around Labor Day. In addition to co-founding Leisure Team Productions, Kristine co-authored and managed production of its first two book titles.
